Can I pay myself a salary from my Dutch BV, and is there a minimum?

Beyond Consultancy

Yes, and if you hold a substantial interest in your own BV and work for it, Dutch law expects you to. There is a statutory minimum director's salary, set each year, and the tax office may require more if comparable roles pay more; paying yourself only in dividends to avoid wage tax is not accepted. In some situations a lower amount can be agreed with the Tax Administration, for instance for a loss-making start-up. We calculate the amount that applies to your year and situation and set the payroll up accordingly, so this does not surface later as a correction.
